with the run of Jeopardy James this little tidbit came out:
https://consequenceofsound.net/2019/04/jeopardy-contestants-bets-69/
During a discussion about Holzhauers unique gaming style, Jennings divulged details of a rule that prevents contestants from wagering certain amounts during Final Jeopardy. The conversation started after Jennings quipped that I dont feel I get enough credit for making small, sensible Jeopardy wagers, which helped the show with its prize budget. After a fan joked about him consistently betting $69 each night, Jennings confirmed that the amount was now officially forbidden on Jeopardy now, as of last year.
Turns out $69 is one of five banned wager amounts, though the other four are drastically less sexy. The devils number, $666, is similarly banned, as are three numbers associated with neo-Nazi propaganda ($14, $88, and $1488).

(17,984 posts)Not the pot number. I don't watch anymore, but it would be pretty funny if someone kept betting $420.

(66,286 posts)pretty quickly. There's a pool of contestants right there in the studio just waiting for their chance. Try something funny like joke wagers, and they'll yank you without a second thought. And your dreams of being on 'Jeopardy!' will be crushed.
