Unidentified Furry Animal Problem
Just laughing over mahatmakanejeeves post from Craiglist about a woman who mistook a Bobcat for a domestic cat. It seriously ages me but it made me remember this request from A-Schwarzenegger for help identifying a new pet he inherited.
Brought to you from the DU WayBack Machine: 28. It lets you pet him but it makes this sound that sounds like a combination of growling and purring and a upset stomach so your never quite sure. It's fur feels like the end of a old broom and runs in different directions and different lengths so your hand gets tangled in it. To be honest I wear miner's gloves when petting it. It watches your hand with its eyes wide and dilated and its mouth open. But it seems to like it. Its breath is like that water in a vase when the flowers go bad. I don't think my uncle must of petted it much. It brought home a old bucket it found and keeps nosing it down the stairs and then gets it and brings it back up and noses it down the stairs again. My neighbors are watching it through their blinds. There's more: https://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x624815

2. Thanks
I still get a kick out of it too. And I'm ready for a glass of vino and some lighter reading for the weekend. Here's hoping the news will get better!

4. I was drinking gin while I looked back at it.
So many names, there was not one there I did not remember. Some gone because they were trolls, some because they moved along, some dead, all missed. I still remember them and bring up the pictures in my mind that I seem to think they looked like.
A much better way to end the day. News has been so hard every day occasionally punctuated by tragedy beyond belief. Very early day tomorrow going to be with a better story in my mind than what the world has provided today or any day lately. Thanks for that. |

3. Would live to regret it, but would love to rub a bobcat's belly.
Interesting that I don’t recognize any of the names, but a funny discussion.

5. How in the world did I ever miss that thread?
Thank you for reposting it! I have been sitting here, howling out loud with laughter. My sides hurt. I couldn't read it all in one sitting. Bookmarking to go back later to read some more.
I have an ad blocker on my browser, but on the old site it doesn't work. So of course I got a cat food ad while I was reading the thread. Maybe Oscar was a cat? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You finally solved the mystery of Oscar's identity. (or not)

7. LOL!
Wasn't that just a wee bit strange? The whole time I'm reading the thread, that cat food ad is just sitting there almost winking at me.
If it weren't for the lounge and all of the crazy stories in here, I'm quite convinced I would have lost my sanity by now. Thank goodness we have this place to come and de-stress. ![]() |

10. This thread needs a lot more viewers.
Come on in folks. And click on the link at the top. It's well worth it. Have some kleenex nearby, because you are going to laugh so hard you are going to cry.

11. I remember that thread, although I did not participate.
Smart people being witty.
I'm able to appreciate, but unable to rise to their brilliance. ![]() More low-brow humor, but does anyone remember the thread on soft toilet seats? that one almost made me pee myself!! |

12. I missed one on soft toilet seats?
I obviously need to spend a lot more time in the lounge.
One of my favorite threads of all time was where someone was pretending to be God, and 'God' asked us if we had any questions. It was an absolutely fascinating thread. I wish I knew how to find the old threads. Also, 'Don't tutch the but.' Classic DU. ![]() |

The soft toilet seat thread was just as old, if not older, than Oscar.

14. We need a thread devoted to the best of the DU Lounge.
And it should be pinned to the top of the lounge, and have all the thread links in it. Then we can all just sit and laugh 24/7. Because we really need that right now!!

17. I have this bookmarked
http://www.friedchickenandcoffee.com/2012/11/02/i-inherited-a-mixed-animal-from-uncle-living-in-woods-novel-excerpt-from-richard-martin/
Which begins My Uncle Leonard was a hermit who lived alone in the Unconscious Forest his entire life. Unc had a sack of money stashed away, and when he went to meet his Maker he left every penny to my little sister Shane. He left me, a full grown man, a rusty bicycle and a busted set of drums. I don’t mean he left me a full grown man, I mean I am a full grown man. So why would he leave me a load of childish junk instead of cold hard adult cash? He also left me some kind of a mixed animal, which from the very beginning would turn out to be even more questionable than the junk. I was not a DU member when the thread was active, but it was pointed out to me by my SO. It remains my most enjoyed thread. |
