Aaron Thibeaux "T-Bone" Walker born today, May 28th 1910
A giant of the early Texas and West Coast scene, T-Bone was a pioneer of Jump Blues, blending uptown sophistication with guitar greatness.
He has been attributed as the first electric blues guitarist to be recorded, in 1929. His interpretation of phrasing, string bends, chorded leads mimicking horns, and using guitar solos as bridges within songs, heavily contributed to the form of what would become mid century Rock and Roll, and Blues. Among those who claim his influence were BB king, Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Enjoy!
