we learned about the a Danish list of approved baby names. We had never heard of this before. They had a name picked out, but when they consulted the list, it wasn’t on there. On to Plan B.
I’m not sure how I feel about this, but if we’d have this in the US, many children certainly could avoid some unpleasant life experiences.

...a few doozy-level stupid names.

Parents make up “clever” spellings that don’t follow any conventional rues of pronunciation, and then get annoyed if you don’t say it right - don’t spell your kid’s name Jerome and expect people to know that you want it pronounced Jeremy (Jer-o-me). Or name your daughter Micheal and get pissed off if people think your baby is a boy.

Or naming your kid ESPN after the TV station and pronouncing it Espin (ESPN Ann for a girl).

Did we all see the story of the mother who spells her daughter’s name ABCDE and pronounces it Ab-sih-dee? According to Wikipedia, there are about 400 females in the US named ABCDE. ABCDE does not spell ANYTHING!
