I recall hearing about its popularity in Florida.

Good review of the current status of tracks in the U.S. here:

Her name was Racy. She was black and white, and the most lovable dog in the world.

She lived with my friend, but she bonded with me. We were like two peas in a pod. I'm the only one who could get her to run in the dog park. We had a little system, some silly little thing we did. She would let me know when she was getting ready to run, and off she would go. And everything in the dog park stopped. No one could take their eyes off of her. She was so graceful when she ran.

She loved squeaky toys. She would toss them in the air and jump up and catch them and squeak them a whole bunch and then repeat it over and over. We would just sit and laugh.

She would occasionally sneak out of the house, and run down the road to the golf course. And then she went full blast, just running all over the place, enjoying herself. The grounds crew got to know her, so they would somehow get her near enough to them to hold on to her until my friend could go get her. She was always in a safe area when she did this. Never in danger of being hit by a car.

And she loved to sleep on her back on her pillow. Her legs were straight up in the air. She look like she had died and just froze into that position. But she was sound asleep. It looked absolutely ridiculous. Somewhere around here I have pictures, and one of these days I will have to learn how to post them on here.

Racy passed away two years ago. I cannot go by her house without bursting into tears. She was my girl even though she lived with someone else. And she knew I knew it. Oh I miss her.

And if anybody is wondering, they are the biggest couch potatoes in the world. They do like to go out and take walks, and if they have some space to run, they are happy to do that once in awhile. But mostly they just like to hang out with the family.
