(21,063 posts)So far just small branches on our roof. Hope it stays that way.

(16,356 posts)I'm taking Mon-Wed off next week due to election anxiety. I requested it off way back in June because I KNEW I'd be a basket case. And if the worst happens, I'll probably have to call in sick for Thurs., Fri., as I don't know how I will function.

(66,096 posts)Day after Election Day 2016, I was physically sick due to the result, and had to go home even before clinic started.

(16,356 posts)I simply could not process what had happened and believed any moment we'd learn it was all a mistake.

(11,660 posts)I took off the day after Obamas election. I remember lying in my bed listening to La Streisand singing Happy Days Are Here Again on some radio show (Thom Hartmann?) and crying tears of joy. Hoping for the same thing this Wednesday.

(66,096 posts)I can't think of any music that might reflect the joy I'd feel in having it all over at last.
But I'm sure something will occur to me...

(63,221 posts)I love not having to get dressed up for work. I have saved a fortune on dry-cleaning bills.
I am taking Tues - Thurs off next week. Our company gives us a Civic Duty day off (just started this year) and then I am taking Wed and Thurs off because no matter what happens, I don't think my mind will be able to concentrate on work for at least two days.
Even if Biden wins hands down, I will still be afraid of the backlash and what Trump will do in his remaining months in office. There is no bottom for him and I put nothing past him. I expect the worst. I don't really see a win-win here unless he drops dead in the next few days.

(66,096 posts)But I've given up neckties for the duration. They're a potential viral spreader. (Even though I keep my tie tucked neatly under my lab coat...)
Pity. I own about a hundred neckties...
Still, loving not having to get out of my bathrobe...

(63,221 posts)turning my computer on with no worries about grooming and dressing suits me quite well. It is going to be a difficult adjustment when we have to back to the office and I have to get up at least an hour earlier to get it together in time. I am kind of a lazy slob at heart.

(16,356 posts)I did medical transcription from home for years and basically lived in my PJs. Now I go to the clinic every day and have to register patients and get them ready for their studies, but I don't have to be there until 10:15 a.m I usually roll out of bed around 8:00, LOL. I am so looking forward to retirement in two years.

(63,221 posts)I have always been this way. I don't think I will ever change. You are so lucky to be looking forward to retirement! I would be too in about 10 years if it wasn't for my damn student loan, which I will probably never be able to pay off. Unless we get a real progressive in office who forgives them.
I only borrowed 50k for grad school, but due to layoffs and underemployment, the amount balooned to 135K with interest. I have been paying and it's down to 123K, but it's bullshit. I pay almost $1000 per month and it barely reduces the amount I owe. It makes me sick when I think about it. Sorry for the rant. I just want to retire in peace.

(16,356 posts)It's such a dirty trick, really. My youngest son is going to be in the same boat and he is not even working right now. His undergrad is in physics and there's not too much to do with that unless he goes on to a doctorate. I worry about him. He's living with me and I know he's frustrated.
I have been a night person, too, since I can remember. I'm at my best between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. and sleeping is so much easier for me in the morning and early afternoon. Why are we this way? It goes against the grain.

(1,000 posts)Clip on neckties are so much safer. They were strict policy in the facility I worked at. I once had to help rescue a Psychologist who ignored that policy and was being dragged all around a unit by his tie. That dude was so nuts! The patient had a few issues too.
Enjoy the Vacay , you deserve the best!

(66,096 posts)I've never had a patient get violent with me.
And even if one did, I literally wouldn't be caught dead wearing a clip-on tie...

Except Im watching MSNBC, Rachel, Lawerence, and my hair is on fire. Im gonna need another bottle.
BTW, if you get the chance, sample a bottle of Storrs Christine Vineyard Pint Noir. I believe that the very best Pinots and Chardonnays in California come from Pleasant Valley in Santa Cruz County, CA. Hard to find, under the radar, but fantastic.

(66,096 posts)I love Pinot Noir...
I'll give Storr's a try...

(23,242 posts)Trying to fend off election anxiety. I think you were wise to take next week off of work. Im self employed so I cant do that but I am really hoping to be off work by 2 pm-ish on Election Day so I can go home and start breathing deeply. I hope you have a lovely and restorative time away from work.
