Jamming Barcodes (Electronicos Fantasticos)

Six years ago, I posted a dot-matrix printer playing Eye of the Tiger. Sadly, the youtube video has since been removed because of bullshit copyright claims.

Now, here's some clever young guys turning bar codes into techno music by attaching their barcode readers to a speaker rather than a cash register.

That's neat but I prefer this guy's music - I'm not much into techno csziggy Nov 2020 #2

But he got so much feed back, he's gone crazy with them. Check out his version of Country Roads:

And compare to his much older:

It's so much more fun with googly eyes and costumes!

Though I think their best Floppotron song is Sweet Dreams:

I'd heard both on the "Who's that Noisy?" segment on the Skeptics' Guide to the Universe podcast.

I can't believe this sort of thing would be a copyright violation. That's just wrong.

And YouTube is letting them stand. Maybe it was decided the versions were fair use parodies so not a copyright violation.

It seems an obvious case of Fair Use to me, but youtube often errs on the side of the copyright holders.
