(2,483 posts)The middle of the country is getting hit hard this morning.

(10,864 posts)than hell: -3 for a high.
Inside, it's 64. My furnace had an issue with an igniter or something 3 years ago, got it fixed, now it seems to be happening again with the same symptoms. Temp swinging between 63 and 69. Sometimes the furnace comes on for 15 seconds, then back off. Then there are times when it will stay on for 20 minutes and get the temp up to around 69. Thermostat is set to a bit above 70. It's been like this since Feb 5.
When the super cold weather passes, I hope it will be back to normal. Meanwhile saving money, saving our mother the Earth. Am dressed with thermal underware, sweater, sweat shirt, jacket, stocking cap. A big kettle of hot water between my feet. Another on the stove. Sigh.
Sounds awful.
I just hate being cold. Yesterday I just couldn't seem to get warm. I finally got out a heavy robe that I hardly ever use and put it on over my clothes. I tolerate the cold a lot better when the sun is out. I hope that happens today.
But I have no room to complain. My power is on and my furnace is working. I hope it warms up there soon.

(10,864 posts)then will have to call the heating & air co. I know they are very very busy since we've had the polar vortex since Feb 5. My previous inside low this season was 63.0.
I'm doing fine though, in addition to what I described above, now wearing two stocking caps and a "ring" around the neck that was made from an old stocking cap that I folded, cut, and sewed. Have been using that for cold weather jogging for years.

(8,445 posts)The forecasted low was minus 9. It's minus 15.
I'm hoping that this is the last of the very cold weather. After today the forecast looks pretty good. I worry about homeless people and animals, and I worry about the power going out. I've really got to get a grip on my worrying.

Hope you are doing well and staying toasty!

(8,445 posts)I'd really like to have another cup, but I already surpassed my limit.
It has warmed up to a whopping 3 degrees! I'm planning to go out and shovel off the back patio in just a bit. I had just shoveled some paths for the cats a couple of days ago, but I like to have the whole thing done. It just makes me feel warm, for some weird reason, to look out and see it cleared of snow.
And I need the exercise and the sun for my mood.

(86,046 posts)Was -5F when I went to bed and it was 0 when I got up but now, an hour later, it's +17F! We might see +20F today. A heat wave and it's not even close to daylight yet.

(8,445 posts)Earlier wunderground said it was going to be zero at 10 a.m. Now it says that it's going to be -3 at that time.
But the sun is shining brightly, so that's a really good thing. Tomorrow is supposed to be above freezing. I'm so excited.

(86,046 posts)We're at +24 now but it's pretty windy out, as is usual around here. We have wind about 300 days out of the year.

0 Fahrenheit is 255 degrees Kelvin, which sounds positively hot.
