Mine would have been to worry about my dog. He crashed at top speed. Luckily he was not hurt this time.

4. The fence wasn't rigid and if there had been any chance he had hurt himself I wouldn't have posted.

Fence head long... could hurt. 2, jump up and maybe I'll sail over fence...nah, wrong body type. 3, throw body into fence, distributing impact over more squishy area than face...I've got a plan!

Everyday as I returned home from high school my little dog would wait in the front yard, and then, upon seeing me walking from the bus at the top of the hill, she would proceed to run a route that took in all the neighbors yards, clearing them of any possible squirrels, birds or any other objectionable beings and then join me for the rest of the walk home. On the memorable occasion, a car happened along, this rarely happened as the it was a quiet private lane. I could see the crash coming and yelled, thinking it was going to end with dog on the losing end. The car was a bit faster and instead of the car hitting the dog, it was the dog running at top speed that smashed into the side of the car. She bounced off, was momentarily stunned, then got up and ran home. I figured she couldn't have been too badly hurt. When I got to the house, she way collapsed in her bed. She had vomited and passed out. I checked for damage and surprisingly found nothing obvious. No cuts, no blood no broken bones. In a while she came to and after a few hours was back to normal, no worse for ware.

Thanks for letting me ramble a bit about days gone by. So many stories.

5. The first day we opened our refurbished screen porch to the cats

About twenty minutes later I heard a very loud but dull TWANG. I'm not positive but the big tabby cat, Lucas, was nonchalantly walking off and I suspect he saw a squirrel out in the field below the house and tried to chase it and ran smack into the almost invisible screening. Only a few weeks before he'd returned from his month + walkabout and probably chased a whole lot of squirrels in that time.

He and the black cat, Sabra, still spend a lot of time on the porch watching the squirrels and birds. Sometimes they get excited and run from room to room to follow the outside animals' progress across the yard. Maya likes the porch, too but she is more into hunting smaller things - she is death to spiders and lizards that get inside.
