żDoggie door question? - wet and muddy feet

We’ve had a lot of precipitation here recently. As we let the boy in we wipe down his paws. Generally just wet but they can be muddy. He’s not a digger but he does really haul ass chasing squirrels.

We are having a doggie door put in. In the wall actually. Is there a good way of him cleaning his feet as he comes in? Laying out towels and us being diligent about wiping him down seems obvious.

Thoughts ?

He’ll be walking right into the middle of our TV room / kitchen “great room” but that does give me an idea.

Maybe there will be an advanced model that will confiscate whatever the pup is bringing in in his mouth too.

The door will lock and unlock due to his invisible fence collar so we shouldn’t have any wildlife issues

so much paw juice. When you pick them up after a few days of rain they weigh a ton and you realize that would have all been in your house. They are machine washable. I take mine to the laundromat.

I made the mistake of putting one in for my cat. He figured out how to operate the latch in about fifteen seconds. He was always bring in live mice to play with. If they hid in a place he couldn't get to he would just go get another. Not to mention the "gifts" of animal parts.

We are melting now in Chicago and my back garden is a mudpit. Tired of taking her to the sink, I keep a pan of warm water by the door and wash her feet.

The dog door leads to a hallway so it works for us. Peel up the ruggable and drop in the washer. It looks decent too.
