what is the problem with the avatars?

AMEND:5/8/21My mistake. I had inadvertently turned it off on my #account page...did not think to look until my Saturday clarity klicked in... thanks to all who tried to help...

not one person's avatar works on my screen. I have firefox. Turned off all ad-blocks other ad reducing tools, still noting. I go to my profile page, it's there where it was not since this problem started. But the main screen? No. Do I have to pay money for one now?
