I can give three examples off the top of my head:
1. The Sting. OK--Gondorff and Hooker pull off the con, and walk out of the gambling den together, heading off into the sunset. But. What if Lonigan and Snyder are still outside arguing, and see the two "dead" men leaving? And do Hooker and Gondorff intend to spend the rest of their lives in hiding, so that Lonigan doesn't find out they're still alive? He wouldn't be amused, to say the least. I gather the sequel goes into this--I've never seen it--but it doesn't help the original make any more sense.
2. Olympus Has Fallen. The North Korean Bad Guys take over the White House, and at the climax we learn they've launched an evil scheme to make all our silo-based missiles detonate in their bunkers, killing tens of millions and destroying America. Fine. But even if they do this--we'd still have bombers and submarines, full of nuclear weapons. If the US was destroyed, no one would hesitate a second to annihilate North Korea. There wouldn't be a stick left standing in the whole country. Didn't this occur to the Bad Guys?
3. Sleuth. Without going into details of a truly elaborate plot, I'll just say to Andrew: Shooting Milo makes no sense. What about Joyce and Thera? They know all about The Game--Milo couldn't have set his game up, the one that fooled you so badly, without their active cooperation. You shoot Milo, Andrew, they go right to the coppers, and where does that leave you?
Anyone else have any other examples?

(51,974 posts)Polk informs hooker "he's gone" before either "dead" guy moves. Pretty reasonable to assume he had eyes on the outside before giving the all clear. Pretty easy for him or anyone else to check outside even if they didn't show that.
I always figured they needed to convince lonnegan that hooker, at least, was dead so that his people would stop trying to kill him (presumably he and his people would eventually talk and make the connection)
Gondorff I figured would go back to being a basically retired drunk, this being his crowning achievement he'd never out-do.
But yeah, they'd have problems if anyone ever spotted them and informed lonnegan.

(2,252 posts)C.F. Kane is all alone in the room when he whispers "Rosebud" just before he drops the globe and dies. How did anyone hear him say it if he was all alone in the room? If nobody hears it say goodbye to one of the greatest plot devices in film history. Just saying.

"Maybe the director could just edit this out and go with a smash-cut to his hideout?"
