We have an Oster toaster oven from when we cleaned out a deceased friend's house a few years ago. It was brand-new, still in the box. Yesterday I decided to give it a try toasting some Thomas' Toaster Cakes, so I read the instructions such as they were.
They told me what buttons to push to toast something, but there was nothing on whether the thing turns itself off, like a microwave, after a given amount of time, or if you have to stop it manually. All I could do was check it now and then and stop it when I thought the things were done (and before burning down the house).
Can anyone here give me some remedial help?
These gol-danged modern contraptions, geez!

(21,740 posts)I have a Cuisinart toaster oven and there is a button for "Toast" and you can adjust it for more or less minutes depending on how dark you want your toast.

On another note I used to love Thomas' Toaster Cakes.... the corn ones. They do not sell them in California. Isn't that a weird! I grew up in NY and they have them there..... as well as Entenmann's cakes. (we get Entenmann's donuts and a couple of other things but not those good pecan rings or raspberry danish things).

As far as the Toaster Cakes, yeah. A friend in NY sent them to us in CA.

I'm sorry for your loss.

(70,496 posts)with a bell at the end. And can turn the dial back while it's running to turn it off manually.
My problem was that it's an on the job experiment guessing the time. And it toasts on the top side only. I make do by buttering the underside.
It's got 3 dials - one for function (baking, toast), one for baking temperature, one for toasting time.
