The most likely trigger for that awareness being the psychedelic experience.
I consider myself to be an atheist, and I also "believe" that the "life energy"/"consciousness" of myself (and presumably others) is a form of non-destroyable energy, which contains all of my and everyone else's experiences - not just humans, all species of life - which continue to exist after the end of our collective existence, in a form of something that may be referred to as "morphic resonance," as postulated by Rupert Sheldrake.
