Marines snacking on crayons has sparked a wide range of funny memes (more, below) and inside jokes. In addition to other branches giving Marines a hard time about their level of intelligence, it is also a way service members tease each other within the USMC.Apr 30, 2023

Navy people usually use that one.

For the army, all instructions and technical manuals are in comic book form.

Air Force = Chair Force

On and on and on. I work around all 5 branches both active and retired, so I've heard just about every insult

It seems each branch constantly insults every other branch on a daily basis...

I think "blue falcon" cracked me up the most

9. Everything has instructions in the Army. I had a TM with how to use a shovel

How to use a ruler
How to use a pick axe. Literally step by step for each one. I found it in a huge crate of documents I was supposed to shred.

Being the Army there’s always that one guy who spends his energy getting out of work. This guy used a heavy duty staple machine to load up one manual with staples and then use that to jam the shredder. Detail over. Sorry Sgt. it’s broke. The NCO was none too happy and shot me a look. I just shrugged my shoulders. The whole thing cracked me up.

The only things that didn’t have instructions on it were an M16 and hand grenades.

from Oliver North. I was never in the military, but I've never met a real Marine who didn't chuckle at it.

11. As a sailor, I never used such a mild insult when referring to the Moron Corps. ;)

It is all humor, for I have respect for all who choose to serve; Marines included. Vets, from the various services usually take the insults in good humor among themselves, and usually have a response in kind. I have been called squid, swabbie, and other names that I no longer recall, but as long as I was sober, they didn't bother me. That said, as a 20 year old, three sheets to the wind swabbie, in an EM club, I have seen some combat joined over such remarks .

I said Air Force

PUSSIES! he replied

I smiled and told him, I always liked dating Marines - they're not too smart and they take orders really well

hahaha he nearly turned purple

such trash talk is pretty common but I do think it's all in fun and that there's an underlying respect for all members of the military

19. As I heard it from a Marine, it's because their landing maps were laminated.

And they used crayons to mark their progress on those maps once they landed.
The story is that a scouting squad got caught got in a situation where they had to lie low and couldn't make much movement or they'd be detected for hours. After a while, one of them got so hungry he chewed on the map crayon because he couldn't risk the noise of opening one of the field MRE packets they would carry.
After that got out -well, the jokes started. Don't know if it's true or not, but that's what I was told.

Anyway, I have also been told that the Blue crayons have the best flavor, while the yellow ones was pretty weak and waxy.

Uuh-Rah!
