Next time try a small portion of milk and cereal. A healthy cereal or frosted mini wheats. It is very filling. Or better yet, a large navel orange. Even more filling. I have one between lunch and dinner every day, and helps with the hunger pains.

Strawberries were on sale and I ate a pound of them yesterday. Looked it up and only 145 calories in 16 oz of strawberries.

my weakness.
I’m on a sugar free/fat free diet. I can only eat them if they are free. I go to a lot pot luck dinners. Also like to shop on days of free samples at Costco.

Humans just are not wired to naturally ignore hunger.

If you figure out how to do it without drugs, please let me know. I'm in the same boat as you.

to fulfill a "craving" it is best to have a little of what I crave.... sugar, salt, fat, etc. If I put it off I usually end up eating/drinking something that is more than I would have if I listened to my craving from the start.

I also do not eat "meals". I have never had meals since 1980 when I left home. Instead I eat little bites throughout the day/night. My stomach is never "stretched" so I don't really ever feel hungry. When I eat a "normal" meal outside of my home I feel very stuffed and uncomfortable since I'm not used to it.

My doctors have no problem with this lifestyle. In fact, a few have told me over the years that this is a good idea. Since I am small 5'1" any weight gained or loss is noticed by my body. If I eat over 1,100 calories a day I gain weight. Fortunately I like cooking and I cook at home and never eat out so I know what is in my food. I don't put anything in my shopping cart unless I read the nutritional info first.

9. Watch your carbohydrate count

I don't usually eat over 50 grams of carbs a day.

A high carb count spikes insulin levels which triggers hunger.

If I have a day where I go over my general carb count I'm extremely hungry the next day.

I don't count calories but I always count protein as well as carbs.

Good luck!
