Is this about the replacement for a lead character on a TV show, by any chance? Did they replace that vampire guy on Bones?

Just doing a quick search and scanning the results I still can't figure out who the "new guy" is, though I learned the name of the character who was killed off.

They seemed to be running out of entertaining ideas and it just became less interesting.

We never consciously stopped watching but over time there were other things on at that time and even on demand we found other things to watch in its place.

It was such a good and fun show early on then they seemed to get off on getting rid of characters more for shock value than plot development.
