What the hell are we coming to?

I know I'm a guy; I like muscle cars or at least performance and sports cars. The current flurry of new cars commercials tout things like "Self-Washing Front/Rear Cameras", "Cadillac Rearview Camera Mirror", "Apple Car Play / Android Auto", "Hyundai Smart Power Liftgate" and "BMW Active Driving Assistant Plus" are among the 12 Hottest New-Car Features For 2016.

I remember a time when key features of many cars were things like horsepower and 0 - 60 times. Now I often see TV commercials extolling the virtues of a vehicle's built-in Wi-Fi. Really??? If I wanted a router I wouldn't be paying $30k plus.

Seriously car makers, in today's world, I'd pay extra for more MPG; I'd also pay extra to keep Siri out of my car.

Now, the GPS equipped, infotainment system with toe operated trunk mostly is just a distraction from driving.

Unless I'm on an interstate for a long drive, I usually don't even like any music on.

Yikes, I was going to sell my early 90s model 4x4, now I'm not so sure what to do. Out here, if you aren't in town, you're on a dirt road... all those gadgets get messed up when there's a lot of dust, and cell service is a novelty outside of town.

...to alert you where to pull in to find the least busy restroom. Of course you may or may not actually need a restroom at that point but maybe soon they'll invent a web enabled bladder.
