"MORE BARN!"

Graham Nash — of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young — has a story about his friend, Neil Young, that has been almost too perfect to believe for nearly three decades.

As the myth goes, Nash was at Young’s ranch just south of San Francisco when Young asked him if he wanted to hear something. (That something would become Young’s now famous 1972 “Harvest” album, which features the track “Heart of Gold.”) Nash, of course, said yes and suggested going into Young’s studio. That wasn’t Young’s plan.

“He said, ‘Get into the rowboat,’” Nash explained on NPR’s Fresh Air in 2013. “I said, ‘Get into the rowboat?’ He said, ‘Yeah, we’re going to go out into the middle of the lake.’”

and it's funny how the article's writer speculates that Young's music has changed to "Less Barn!" over the years!

I'm hearing this story for the first time. tyvm
I'm a huge fan. We do a few of his tunes in the hobby/cover band I'm part of.

Here's another:
Neil was being interviewed while sitting in his rocking chair on the porch of his rustic inspiration cabin/woodshed up above the main house, overlooking his fish pond, with an orange sunset as backdrop.
Coupla brewskis. Kicked back.

Interviewer asks, during a part of the conversation about beauty and art, "What is Art?"
Neil ponders.
Eyes look out over the pond to the far horizon. Surveying for a response.
Back to the interviewer.
Points down at the houndog snoring in it's sleep, there at his feet, next to the rocker.
"That's Art."

Happy New You
