A little NC Hinterland, the back side of Asheville, during Christmas

I sneaked away from the family just before dinner and went over the river and through the woods. I was back home 25 minutes later, after saying hello to a few North Carolina cows on Christmas day.

the folks around there look like those Duck Dynasty guys, and if you get too close to their houses it can get very very dangerous. Naturally their houses are the most picturesque things to photograph, but even I do not dare come close. Only to the abandoned ones.
Guns are everywhere.
(family members usually do not come with me, and I can't really call them cowardly)

Sounds like you live somewhere similar to where I live in Virginia.

I need to get up on the Parkway and go to the Peaks of Otter for photos.
