Got up early to take a walk across the city and took this photo

Walking is great mental therapy right now and this bombed out church was the reward for my walking 5 miles at pace!

11. It really did

Headphones on a mission to get to that place. To capture a bit of beauty. Took me nearly two hours and it was great, no ugly crying at all!!!

12. Thank you

It is an amazing place, I had never been there before, but it was designed by Christopher Wren and got bombed in WW2. They have turned the ruins into a garden and it was sooooo peaceful

4. This is why I'd love to live in the UK.

My morning walks are so damn boring. House..man with dog..woman with stroller..fifty more houses..seven deer..fifty more houses..and more dogs..and more strollers..more deer..

Im a huge fan of gothic architecture, so theres that, too. Fantastic picture!

13. Don't start me on gothic architecture.

I have an archive of 1000s of picture of ruins up and down the land.

I am only half kidding on more than one.

You have a trove of historical eye candy.

5. Page 43! Actually I lost track of what's on what page.

That is a gorgeous pic Soph. The color of the sky adds more to what would be a nice pic even if it was a blue sky.

6. That really is lovely.

The contrast of stone against the flowing vines is striking. Gives me a feeling of renewal.

Good to see you out and exercising. It worked for me as well.

15. Ruin and renewal in one space

Me right now! I have decided that he is not here, but he would hate me moping, so although I am sure that my grief will hit me in badass waves, when I am feeling OK I must get out and walk and connect. It really worked for me today.

16. Thank you

Considering I only had my phone and the place was over flowing with a fashion shoot I was really happy with the pic. I think this might be my thing for a while. Find somewhere curious and then plan a walk too it. Headphones on at pace, and then take some pics. You may get sick of them in time... but not too soon I hope

25. Actually that sounds like a great idea.

Phones can also take amazing photos; well, because of the operator.

And post as many photos as you like The Photography Group never ties of looking at photos. And as I always say, I learn something by viewing other photographers.

And as a bonus, walking is a great way to enjoy the outdoors!

17. Thanks Peg

I am going to do this more. Himself would be pleased. He used to drive me 100s of miles if I found somewhere I wanted to photograph. Now of course, I will for not walk 100's miles to take an interesting photo, but enough miles to explore interesting and obtuse parts of London as I walk through my grief and then share here. You might get bored very soon!

With my dog that walk would not have been so brisk, and you would have ended up carrying her. We get out before dawn and walk by a wildlife refuge. Happy to hear from you dear Soph

18. Hello my love

It was a great walk. Erich emailed me today and offered her house in Hawaii. How lovely is that? Of course I cannot take it up. Not only is the funeral horribly delayed because of covid, but also covid. Would be nice though.

30. I Surmise

There are more of your photos here somewhere, I shall search. Good to see you communicating and getting out and about, baby steps. I would buy a spacesuit to get on a plane to go to Hawaii, please tell Erich I hope she's enjoying the traffic (long story). Do I also surmise correctly that you do not drive? If so, you should fix that, I think it's mandatory here, kidding. I could go on and on, but I shan't take more of your time, and the dog beckons. Be well my friend

31. Look! A Rock!!!

Good to see you too. I just moved again last year, my rocks only take up about one quarter of a table in my living room now. But I am kind of on the prowl again. And I don't want to ruin my relationship with anyone but I should confess to the fact that I am male, I am a little bit flattered that you thought I was female, females being the superior gender. Be well and watch your feet

32. Always look down!

I just moved and I had to crate a lot of my rocks, but the best are still out. It is so much easier to clean rocks than traditional knickknacks.

Ya are?!? Where the heck did I put that embarrassed emoji.... Am I forgiven?

33. Of Course

I'm not sure how one is supposed to discern gender online but when I first got online presumably I was more obvious, being single, I kind of flirted with people I thought were women, which led to a stalker so I don't do that anymore. And being male I wouldn't know anything about cleaning

I will be living with the pain for a long time to come. But creating an image that looks right, made me feel a little bit settled and that is a good thing. Thank you so much for your kind words.

34. Excuse my late response, but your photo is phenomenal!

And an interesting history behind it. Was curious to know if the Church was hit during the Blitz or later in the war during the V2 missile offensive, I googled it and saw it was during the Blitz in 1941. It was also damaged long ago in the Great Fire of London in 1666 and rebuilt, assuming I looked up the right church (St. Dunstan-in-the-East?).

Again, great pic, thanks for sharing.
