California
Related: About this forumBeen receiving mail from Harley Rouda camp and latest one from Ted Lieu.
I adore Ted. Not being a Californian, I'm asking input about Rouda and if I should donate.
Rouda's bio. says he's a converted repub.
What other Dem is on tap for bouncing rohrabacher off his perch?
TIA

(80,700 posts)I tend not to want to trust a former republi-CON. Unless I study up a little about her/him. Have they REALLY seen the light? Or are they a Trojan horse disruptor. As they said in The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test - are you ON the bus, or OFF the bus?
You just kinda have to do some due diligence and make your best guess. Go to one of those community meetings or some local Democratic clubs candidate events - or a neighborhood thing like the local farmers market on Saturdays. Where I live now, inevitably there some local candidate who has a team of volunteers staffing a booth or a table with flyers and buttons and bumper stickers and stuff. They often include a clipboard for registering people to vote. Sometimes the candidate him/herself is there, too.
And theyll want to talk! Theyll want you to know what their positions are on the issues. Or their campaign chairperson or some such will be there and he/she will have those answers too. Or theyll want to know what YOU think the big issues are. If you see something like that, dont hesitate to walk over and ask a few questions! You never know who youll meet and connect with, and where it might lead.

(20,136 posts)But now this email from Ted and so I checked out Rouda.
That was a bit of a sticky wicket, that Rouda was formerly repub.
I guess he's it though. The primaries are over.
If he's the only one contending as the Dem choice, I guess that answers it for me.
Thanx for response.

(149,308 posts)There are no other Democrats worthy of notice in that district.
Ted knows what he's talking about, PERIOD.
I really REALLY want to see Rohrabacher GONE.

(20,136 posts)That's the key to why I ask now and haven't donated before this.
Ted's stamp of approval gave me a reason to look into Rouda.
On the east coast, but I've been making donations directly to candidates across the US.
R*bacher's gotta go. For real.
All republicons are unsavory. But there's varying degrees of it. R*bacher is one of tbe most gross.

(872 posts)Orange County, CA actually went for Hillary, but overall it is very red.
Russiabacher has held a seat for 30 years. TIME'S UP!
