Good news-- PG&E has decided it won't be having so many power shut-offs as in previous years

Good to hear, even though I still loathe them. I wish they'd get their act together

1. Sounds like good news

for some neighborhoods with multi-million dollar homes. You know, people who can afford household generators.

But then, this is a local story from a Marin newspaper.

Up here where the poor folks live, our local hospital in the last year installed enough solar power to provide 60% of their electrical needs. We didn't get shut off last week. I myself have purchased a small generator, enough to run my refrigeration, TV, wifi and a few small appliances. I just accepted that it's another household appliance that I need to own, like a refrigerator or a washing machine.

2. Sorry, Mr Bill...

I didn't realize this was for Marin County and not any of the others.

3. I didn't say it was. That's why I mentioned

it was in a Marin newspaper. So of course the story is going to focus on that area. I hope things are better for everyone, but time will tell.

But let me be clear about one thing. This shut off program will possibly prevent some fires. But it's main purpose is to protect PG&E from liability. There are still lots of other ways for fires to start, as we have clearly seen in recent weeks. I hope we have seen the worst for this year and years to come, and I hope every one stays safe. I have been evacuated twice in the last five years, and the fires were not caused by any PG&E equipment. Thankfully we came back to an intact home and neighborhood.

4. Hang in there-- that's the best we can do

And let's hope this will be the end of the wildfires-- for this year, at least.
