Cuomo's job performance ratings drop to lowest levels, but favorability remains unchanged, Siena poll shows
By KELLY FAY
A recent Siena poll revealed job performance ratings for Gov. Andrew Cuomo have fallen to the lowest in his career as governor. Positive job performance ratings dropped eight points from last month to 44 percent, with 56 percent of voters giving Cuomo a negative rating.
The decline represents the most dramatic decrease in positive job performance ratings recorded by the Siena College Research Institute since Cuomo took office for governor in Jan. 2011.
Despite the drop in voters' opinion of his performance, Cuomo's favorability rating has remained virtually unchanged since last month, with 61 percent of voters having a favorable opinion of him, and 32 percent saying they have an unfavorable opinion of the governor.
"While Cuomo maintains his nearly two-to-one favorability rating, voters are less enthralled with the job he is doing as governor," Siena pollster Steven Greenberg said. "More than twice as many voters think he's doing a poor job compared to an excellent job, and more voters now think Cuomo is doing a fair39 percentor poor job17 percent than at any time in his three years as governor."

(74 posts)He isn't moving to the right. He governs from the far right, and has moved left on a paltry few issues he thinks will help him curry favor with the progressive left (gay marriage and guns). Look at his record: anti-teacher, anti-union, anti-public employee, pro-tax cuts for the wealthy, pro-property tax limits (at the expense of local governments that will have to find revenues elsewhere to support essential services), etc. The reality is that the man has no political convictions and will say or do whatever he thinks will further his own political ambitions, without regard for the State or the Democratic Party. Cuomo is a political party of one -- the Party of Andrew Cuomo.
