Yard sign frenzy in Erie

Link: https://www.timesonline.com/story/news/politics/elections/2020/09/30/biden-trump-political-signs-hot-item-erie-county/3516612001/

"When David Matthews (the Trump campaign's then-organizer for western Pennsylvania) came here in 2016, everyone told him they wanted signs," recalled Tim Kuzma, a volunteer with the Erie County Republican Party. "He said, 'You know, they really don't have much impact,' but people kept saying, 'No, no, we want signs, we want signs.'"

Kuzma estimates that between 5,000 and 7,000 standard yard signs and 100 4-foot-by-8-foot signs were distributed four years ago and thousands more have been handed out this cycle.

On the other side of the aisle, there were fewer than 1,000 signs around the county for then-Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, said Erie County Democratic Party Chairman Jim Wertz.

This year, however, the party has already distributed 15,000 signs for Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris, as well as 60 4-foot-by-8-foot signs. He expects as many as 5,000 more signs to be distributed by Election Day.

That signs were not the best use of campaign funds. I was sooo disappointed. Had to have some made at about 25 a pop.
That could have been a couple $25 donations. But went to Zazzle instead.

What frosts me is that whoever plants those signs in September is responsible for picking them up in November. But how many of them ever do? It's an unnecessary waste, and it all goes into the landfill later.

we all had the same feeling as you and had organized clean-up groups to begin pulling our signs at public intersections and on telephone poles the minute the polls closed. Not hard to organize and great jobs for those too young to vote. I even had a car pull over and got yelled at one night and accused of destroying opponent signs. I had to explain to the gentleman that the polls had just closed and I was on clean-up. We both laughed.
He was most appreciative.

They passed out 17,000 signs there a few weeks ago.

Biden will win Maine,... but the trDump Nazi brigade is astounding. That they would announce to the world their political affiliations with a Nazi dictator such as trDump is atrocious and concerning.

Say it's mostly Biden there. They drove to Bangor to the airport, though, and passed all kinds of Dump signs.

... then its trDump worshipers. Thank God for southern Maine and the greater metro area of Portland. That's all Biden.
