article: PA. GOP Leaders Ignore Poll Showing Plurality of Repubs Don't Want Corbett on the ballot

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2013/10/gop_leaders_ignore_poll_showin.html

Excerpt:

"Specifically, more registered Republicans believe Corbett should step aside (44 percent) for another Republican in the 2014 election as believe he should run again (42 percent), according to the Franklin & Marshall College poll released Thursday.

Democrats, who've been sensing Corbett's poll weakness for months, might have even been stunned by the new poll findings, but only for a few moments.

“Tom Corbett has dropped Pennsylvania's job growth to 43rd in the nation, cut millions from our schools, and repeatedly insulted Pennsylvanians,” state Democratic Party Chairman Jim Burn said in a statement. “Even his base can't support Corbett's dismal record.”

The Dems still have to worry about nominating a candidate who can't get votes outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Particularly in a non-presidential year, they don't make up a majority of the state's voters.
