If you visit Joe Sestak's Website now that the primary is over, you will be greeted with a gracious message and a thank you from the admiral himself.
I write this with a thoughtful soul knowing I can never do justice to people who believed in me by a simple note of thanks. Your belief in me, tangible in time, effort, and money invested in me, will be the most cherished memory I will keep from my time in politics. And that memory will find a home in the grandest sepulcher of all, the heart of a man enriched by the service of others.
I did not reach our journey of U.S. Senate to have been able to return your service by serving America, again. But I am so much richer for having met you in your gift of faith in me. Please know I will remain indebted, always, for your trust that I might have served our country, honorably.
Thank you and warmly,
Joe

(6,965 posts)And even though you did not become Senator of the great state of Pa., yours was a voice that was definitely needed to be heard, and I always appreciated WHAT you said and your passion for saying it (I sincerely hope you will remain a part of our political discourse). I also enjoyed seeing the genuine love you had for your daughter & your wife, your constituents and country.
Good luck, and bless you Admiral Sestak *Military salute.*

(18,219 posts)Of all the choices, we really lost the chance at the best one for the job. Now, I have to hold my nose for at least two of my votes in November...and I hold no delusions that the choices we will have will do a damned thing for us.
I will echo the sentiment that I hope he continues to work for us in some way.

(4,532 posts)I met John Fetterman in person and he was a very nice man let alone on the right side of the issues, but Sestak was the best choice. The only one who could win.

(18,219 posts)They were the ones who pushed her on us. They donated tons of money to her, with nothing for Sestak or Fetterman. Of course, Sestak is his own man and would not bow to them.

(4,482 posts)I received a donation request from the McGinty campaign on Friday. Mailed it back, with the amounts scribbled out, and an issues cutout from Joe's brochure. It was the most polite way I could express my opinion.

(18,219 posts)Sestak had the best issue stands, and she should pay attention to them. She must realize that the establishment was who put her in the top seat, not the people. But she needs us now. (Or maybe she doesn't realize it. She might have an ego problem---"the people love me".)

(15,480 posts)Cause "nobody says no to Chuck Schumer". Chuck is the heir apparent to Reid for Senate leadership and he demands a yes man. He told Sestak "When I tell you how to vote, the only word I want to hear from you is YES". Sestak refused to agree to that. Then Schumer (NY Senator) demanded that Sestak accept one of Schumer's people as campaign manager. Sestak said, fine I could use the help. Schumer: Of course you'll do whatever he tells you to. Sestak: "No, but if we have a disagreement, I'll call you at once to discuss it." Schumer then promised Sestak support, but behind Sestak's back, immediately started calling other Pennsylvania politicians to recruit a primary opponent.
First he called Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and offered him $4 million of DNC funds to run in the primary against Sestak. Fitz said no and had his staffer call Sestak and tell him what Schumer was pulling. Sestak immediately called Schumer and said, "What's going on? We had a deal!" To which Schumer replied, "Any deal with me is always what I say the deal is NOW!" Fracking McGinty was NINTH on the list and Schumer had to deliver $4 million of DNC money to her campaign.
She is bought and paid for. Of course, she and her fracking lobbyist husband were bought and paid for by Big Energy already, so no surprise there.
Joe Sestak has more honor and integrity in his little finger than Schumer, McGinty and Fast Eddie Rendell put together.
