Related: About this forumDoes Clinton Stand As A Champion Of Public Education Or Private Schooling In Texas?

Its an issue that puts Clinton in a difficult position, pitting some of her big Wall Street supporters against the everyday Americans whose votes she is courting.
School choice lobbyists have spent enormous sums of money around the country to promote the idea that public schools have failed and to support privatization. But the data dont back up their claims. National research shows that charter and voucher schools perform no better, on average, than traditional public schools. To offer a fair shot at success to all students, public schools need more resources, not punitive, test-and-punish reforms or dubious school privatization schemes. more at site link
Texans have a dilemma coming on who to support and then vote for with regards to their representative of public schools in the coming General Election in Nov 2016. Democrats will for sure be fighting Republicans like Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick against school tax credits and vouchers in the Jan-May 2017 Texas Legislative secession.

Hillary has always been a champion for public school and teachers. Please keep in mind that States control their own schools not the government. There is a Dept of Education to set general guidelines but States write their own too.

(53,475 posts)2. Wrong, to the tune of at least $249 Million...
http://www.salon.com/2015/10/11/the_ugly_charter_school_scandal_arne_duncan_is_leaving_behind_partner/
US Secretary of Education Arne Duncans surprise announcement to leave his position in December is making headlines and driving lots of commentary, but an important story lost in the media clutter happened three days before he gave notice.
On that day, Duncan rattled the education policy world with news of a controversial grant of $249 million ($157 the first year) to the charter school industry. This announcement was controversial because, as The Washington Post reports, an audit by his departments own inspector general found that the agency has done a poor job of overseeing federal dollars sent to charter schools.
Post reporter Lynsey Layton notes, The agencys inspector general issued a scathing report in 2012 that found deficiencies in how the department handled federal grants to charter schools between 2008 and 2011? in other words, during Duncans watch.
Even more perplexing is that the largest grant of $71 million ($32.5 the first year) is going to Ohio, the state that has the worst reputation for allowing low-performing charter schools to divert tax money away from educational purposes and do little to raise the achievement of students.

Texans will not accept corruption in its Public Schools. Low information voting needs to come to a halt.
