Fenenbock officially announces bid for Congress

Dori Fenenbock, the former El Paso Independent School District board president who led the effort to convince voters to pass the county's largest-ever bond election, officially announced Saturday she will be seeking the Democratic nomination for the 16th Congressional District seat.

“I believe we are all feeling that we are at a crucial point in history and Washington is a mess,” Fenenbock said in an interview with the El Paso Times. “The discord and polarization of politics is at an all-time high. We are seeing that in Washington, in our state capital and we are seeing it here at home in El Paso.”

She added, “We need a leader who knows how to fight for El Pasoans, but more importantly we need a leader who knows when to fight. We need a leader with a demonstrated ability and record of being able to work within the party and across party lines to move organizations forward.”

Fenenbock, 49, made her announcement at 5 Points Bistro, 3019 Montana Ave. before more than 140 people. The event was attended by several prominent El Pasoans including former Mayor Joe Wardy and city Rep. Sam Morgan.
