State, counties and cities sue Reagor, Dykes for taxes

The State of Texas and local government offices recently sued Bart Reagor and Rick Dykes in Travis County court for not paying sales and use tax, interest and penalties.

The plaintiffs are seeking $100,000 or less from the former principals of Reagor-Dykes Auto Group, entities of which have been under Chapter 11 bankruptcy since August. Each city and county requested the amount owed in the specific jurisdiction.

The complaint cites a Texas tax code that states any person who collects a tax from another person is responsible for paying that money, and any penalties or interest, to the taxing authority. The document states that as responsible individuals of Reagor-Dykes, the former principals are on the hook for the payments.

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit filed April 17 include the cities of Plainview, Lubbock, Amarillo, Lamesa, Floydada and Snyder, and the counties of Hale, Lubbock, Dawson and Scurry. Reagor-Dykes had dealership locations in each city.
