Elon Musk is pleading for engineers, technicians, and other experts to move to South Padre, Texas, to work for SpaceX

Elon Musk wants top talent to meet him in Texas.

The SpaceX and Tesla CEO tweeted on Tuesday that SpaceX needed engineers, technicians, builders, and other workers in and around Brownsville and South Padre.

SpaceX's launch site — also called Starbase — is in nearby Boca Chica, though the company is based in Hawthorne, California.

Musk pledged to donate $20 million to Cameron County schools and $10 million to the city of Brownsville for downtown revitalization to further encourage people to move there. The chief executive said he would announce further details next week.

It was really strange as I read through old school year books from the era in which the ABM site was being built. One particular quote was about new friends and new beginnings. The community was really preparing for this new facility.

Soon after going live, the ABM site closed down because of the USSR=US treaty. When I was up there 30 years ago, the houses on the base were already deteriorating.

Probably should take a trip up there again. My wife doesn't have any people that live in the town anymore though.

South Padre Island maybe be close to Boca Chica as the seagull flies, but it's an hour's drive each way.

...for any job.

That GOP-run state is so messed up, & so many are openly hostile to Democrats & liberals.

Yes, I know there are bluer areas, but they're surrounded by... Texas.

Tesla must give a fired worker his job back and chief executive Elon Musk must delete a tweet discouraging unionization, the National Labor Relations Board ordered Thursday, upholding much of a 2019 ruling on Tesla’s alleged unfair labor practices.

The board found that Tesla unlawfully interrogated workers over suspected unionization efforts, threatened workers with the loss of their stock options if they unionized and unlawfully fired one worker and disciplined another over protected union-related activity, the board said.

Tesla also unfairly maintained a policy prohibiting employees from communicating with the media, in violation of their right to speak “concerning labor disputes and terms and conditions of employment,” the board found. But it also reversed one key finding of administrative law Judge Amita Baman Tracy’s Sept. 2019 decision, finding Tesla did not violate federal labor law when it told workers that joining a union would be futile.
