Sound Transit: vandalism to delay Link trains until Thursday

Due to vandalism at the Beacon Hill Light Rail Station, Sound Transit announced that riders can expect delays between five and fifteen minutes.

Riders can anticipate delays near the Columbia City and Sodo stations, as trains in both directions will alternate in the southbound Beacon Hill tunnel. The Link is currently not serving the northbound platform at Mount Baker or Beacon Hill Stations, and passengers will board and exit on the southbound platforms.

The vandalism occurred Monday and closed the station between 9 and 10 a.m. while damage was assessed.

"On Monday morning, a person entered a tunnel cross-passage, opened a standpipe valve, flooded critical electrical components and disabled the emergency ventilation fan," Sound Transit wrote on their website.
