Hospitals around Washington have made big strides in gearing up for any future surge of COVID-19 patients, but they need the public to continue to do its part.
Respiratory tents outside Harborview Medical Center are one of the many ways hospitals around the state are preparing for an influx of sick patients if the worst is still to come.
Medical facilities have rushed to add more beds and free up additional space by canceling elective surgeries.
Hospitals in the state have taken really aggressive action to increase capacity in their hospitals, said Cassie Sauer, CEO of the Washington State Hospital Association.

(24,589 posts)I was going to move out of state to be nearer my daughter, but the way this state - our Governor and Senators and my congresswoman Kim Schier - have protected and looked out for us and been so smart through this; I've changed my mind. As long as we have this level competent state leaders here, I'm not going anywhere!

(58,440 posts)Sorry, sometimes my cynical side takes over. I really do hope they're right. It does sound like releasing the temp hospital at Qwest was the right decision. Several places around the country need it more than us right now.
