A second Washington state man has been charged with several federal crimes in connection with the insurrection and riot that happened in Washington D.C. on Jan. 6 as members of Congress were meeting to certify Joe Biden's win as president of the United States.
According to court documents, Taylor James Johnatakis, 37, of Kingston, has been charged with several crimes, including: obstruction of an official proceeding, assaulting, resisting, or impeding an officer, act of civil disorder, entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct, two counts of violence in a restricted building and obstructing passage in a restricted building.
Johnatakis made an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Tacoma on Thursday. The Justice Department did not request his continued detention, and a judge ordered him to be released pending further hearings in Washington, D.C. He has not entered pleas.
