Seattle ranks among top 10 metros for tech job postings

The Seattle area had the sixth-most tech job postings in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2021, according to the most recent Tech Job Report from Dice, a platform that connects tech workers with employers. That's up seven spots from the first quarter of 2020.

"In Q1, Seattle’s hiring was led primarily by Amazon, with Facebook, Salesforce, Deloitte and Accenture also hiring at high rates," the report said. "Like other tech hubs across the country, Seattle relies on a network of good schools, incubators, and VC firms to flow talent and money to companies with promising business models."

Among the top occupations in the area are software developer, product manager and network engineer, according to the report. The Seattle area seems to have gotten a particular boost from Redmond. The report said the Eastside city grew its job postings 29% from February to March, one of the highest growth rates in the U.S. over that span.

Redmond has tech companies both big and small that contribute to its job market. Microsoft, for example, has more than 60,000 workers based out of its Redmond headquarters. MicroVision, a Redmond-based laser-beam scanning company, is hiring a variety of positions after facing significant layoffs over the past year.
