Related: About this forumWhy is Justice Rebecca Bradley having a fundraiser?
She won't need to campaign again for ten years. Is she so deep in debt for this year's campaign that she needs to pay that off? They're asking $50 per person and up to $2500 for hosts. Something doesn't seem quite right here (of course, that's par for the course with Republicans). [Edit: Justice Ziegler is having one too, but she's up for election next year so that's understandable. That one is asking for twice as much.]

(11,619 posts)1. I have seen other politicians hold fundraisers to pay of campaign debt.
Trump held a fundraiser to help Christie pay off his. (sorry for the source of the link.
Obama held a fundraiser to pay off his 2012 debt.
It appears to be pretty common.
In the case of judge, it also seem to be a conflict of interest waiting to happen.

Absolutely!!!
Judges can never predict what cases may appear before them...especially over the next 10 years....
Of course, with this bunch, it probably won't matter.
