Stopped by the local Dem Office yesterday afternoon. Saw a couple of old friends but also saw some new faces...saw people stopping in to buy bumper stickers, pick up yard signs and tee shirts (Walker: You don't remember us but we RECALL you!). Saw four or five people on the phones...listened to the office manager tell a caller where and how to get an absentee ballot.
They were busy. They weren't caught up in any kind of drama at all...the Office manager said she isn't paying attention to anything but the task at hand...as she put it " I just put my head down and keep working".
This is the kind of "ground game" that pays off....
I'm a lot more hopeful.

(18,964 posts)On Thursday I talked with a couple of the "tea-party-illuminati" locally. They have no ground game for this election.
There is no counter-part to the Democratic headquarters by the Repubs.
Walker is fighting a total "air war"...bombing the airwaves...robo-calls by the dozens...he doesn't have any ground game at all.

(3,450 posts)It means a lot to those of us not in WI and who are anxious about what is going on because it seems as if the national party is not as involved as we all would want them to be.

(13,570 posts)I myself have donated repeatedly, called from home, and even sent pizza to the protesters from home last year, and I live in MAINE.
The DNC, DCCC, DGA, MoveOn, Bold Progressives, Rebuild the Dream, and MANY other national and local groups are helping. In the end, it is up to WI voters. Either they put someone in who isn't a corporate rat scumbag, or they don't. It is YOUR house. You need to make you bed and sleep in it. No blame games, please.
