Essex UKIP accused of false election signature

The United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) has been accused of using someone's name and signature on an election form without their knowledge.

Rupert Duke's name appears on nomination papers for a UKIP candidate in council elections in Essex.

Mr Duke, who was not a member of the party, said it was "a disgrace" and he had reported the matter to police.

UKIP's election agent for Castle Point Borough Council said it was an "administration error".

Hardly a surprise.

1. The daft thing is that it's totally unessessary....

UKIP have plenty of support in that neck of the woods. Certainly enough for nomination papers in council elections.

2. I'm sure anyone with just a p[assiong knowledge of the area could whip up enough signatures.

Having said that every March the Labour candidate knocks on my door for a signature. I think it's probably laziness on UKIP's part.
