Brazil's Supreme Court Prepares to Debate New Controversy Linked to Flavio Bolsonaro
Court's decision on use of data from agencies such as COAF will affect pending investigations against president's son

Brazil's Supreme Court is preparing to debate new controversy. The Court will look at the ruling of its president, Dias Toffoli, who has paralyzed investigations that used data from a control body, such as the former Coaf, without prior judicial authorization.
The case is scheduled for the 21st. Toffoli is the rapporteur. The result interests Senator Flavio Bolsonaro (PSL-RJ), son of President Jair Bolsonaro. Flavio is the author of the request that motivated Toffoli's decision to suspend criminal investigations.
Since Toffoli's decision, an investigation by Rio de Janeiro's prosecutor about Flavio has been paralyzed.
He is suspected of having appropriated part of the salaries of his former cabinet's workers in the Legislative Assembly.

Brazil prosecutors open money-laundering probe into president's son

BRASILIA (Reuters) - The senator son of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is under investigation by federal authorities for money laundering in connection to unexplained increases in his net worth, the prosecutor generals office said on Thursday.
Federal prosecutors said this month that an accusation of money laundering had been raised against Senator Flavio Bolsonaro in connection with at least two luxury apartments he purchased in Rio de Janeiro.
The press office for the prosecutor general did not provide more details. A spokeswoman for Flavio Bolsonaro said he was innocent of any wrongdoing and is the victim of political persecution and repudiates the attempt to ascribe wrongdoing and crimes that do not exist.
Flavio Bolsonaro has been dogged by multiple corruption allegations that are sullying the law-and-order image his father rode to an easy presidential election last year.

(Is it possible to "sully" Jair's image?)
