Today, it looks like it's still the case.

hate they feel towards us just because we are different than them, just because they have been taught to hate us.
But I would never wish that on anyone.
All I can do is pity them for the small hateful little minds that they have, and hope that, someday, the universe will see fit to let them grow hearts.
There are a lot of really great, empathic straight folks on this site who get it, who have a fair understanding of what we have to face.
But there are also way too many homophobes/transphobes here who can't see or think past the hate for LGBT persons that was instilled in them, that they were indoctrinated with all their lives. They fancy themselves to be progressives, but they cannot think beyond the borders of the box that was built for them, they cannot see or comprehend their own homophobia/transphobia.
And, well, some of them are just flat out juvenile and malicious, because, like freepers, that's just who they are.
They hate us for no reason, and don't even know why, they just do it.
