First course was pasta: beggar's purses. Fresh pasta. His friend he was with in CT is the manufacturer of this pasta. The RG made the sauce with tomato, cream, herbs, parmesan.
He was coming back from CT so he picked me up a filet mignon from Balducci's (my request--probably haven't had anything like that in a year). Then he made a black truffle sauce for it, which also had butter and cream in it. Rosemary, garlic, and lots of black pepper. He cooked the meat on both sides on a bed of garlic in a cast iron skillet. Then cooked in butter and browned. He gave me a little bowl of truffle sauce to dip each slice in.
Scalloped potatoes with leeks, goat cheese, butter, etc.
Corn cut from the cob. Caramelized in....you guessed it! Butter.
Now, here's the funny part. Each of us had gone to Whole Foods, also, and we bought the same things: tiramisu, almond cake, and a particular type of olive oil. He bought these itms at the WF in CT and I in NJ.
That's dessert, along with cold coffee.

Strawberry ice cream, Edy's, for dessert.

I had some ruffles chips on the side.
This was FLFC's favorite meal (no bun please) and it is the first time I've made them since he passed away.

He was special. I've had many pets in my life, but losing this one seems to be the worst.
