(9,298 posts)We have a local bakery that makes a variety of breads.
Real bread. Made hours before purchase. Coffee of course.
Enjoy all. Stay healthy.

(38,452 posts)I made a breakfast sandwich using 2 Eggo waffles, sausage, egg, cheese and a smidge of maple syrup.
It's apparently a combination that my altered digestive system will not tolerate. I feel quite sick.
I'm going to go lay down.

(38,452 posts)Though I really didn't use much... maybe just a teaspoon. But add that to the sugar in the waffles...
It's not often that I eat waffles or pancakes, but when I do, I usually opt for some fruit preserves instead of maple syrup. Fruit preserves typically have about 1/3 of the sugar.
This time I was attempting to do an at-home version of a McGriddle, which has a maple flavor added to the "bread" part of the sandwich.

(102 posts)That "sandwich" sounds very yummy. I'm sorry to hear it didn't agree with you. Hope you feel better soon.

(38,452 posts)I did have an issue with the waffles not being sturdy enough. I imagine that they could be toasted more, but then there would be a risk of burning them. It's possible that a homemade waffle w/ a recipe that produces a denser waffle would work. I'm not sure I want to work that hard (especially if I end up feeling ill in the end).
