it is time (though the tomatoes are still from the store)

romaine and whatever other greens, tomatoes, cauliflower, onion, cukes, bell pepper

grilled london broil sliced up thin, homemade ranch dressing

fresh sourdough bread, maybe I will break out a negra modelo - have a 12 pack stashed away from the mass-quantity bud lite gang.

or I might get around to making some jamaica. have a bag of blossoms sitting in the cupboard.

That sounds refreshing! You've now inspired to make some this weekend with some fresh mint and local honey.

Had an early dinner of leftover street corn with chile and queso fresco.
Delish!

Using leftover lamb shank and mashed potatoes. I made a nice veggie base (onion, celery, carrot, lima beans, green beans, peas, and fresh corn cut off the cob) and added in the leftover gravy. Assembly was a snap and it's smelling up the apartment now. What are we supposed to dance to tonight, Pinto?

Missed you, too. After 30+ years of having rheumatoid arthritis in remission, it came roaring back. Now, on any given random day, I could have knuckles the size of apricots. I can't do much in the kitchen and when I do I don't have the strength to type afterward -- not really a matter of strength, more of pain endurance. So, I've been depressed. I didn't get to go to Oklahoma to see my monologue performed on the anniversary of the bombing. The monologue, "Sparrow" has been performed by Conchatta Ferrell in Los Angeles, Socorro Santiago at EST in NYC, and by the late, great Patricia Neal here in our village (fundraiser for GLBT outreach) as well as on the Cunard Lines at sea. Eighteen years later it was finally performed in Oklahoma. All reports said it was wholeheartedly received. I've been depressed. I didn't know rheumatoid arthritis could come back after thirty years. Hope this isn't TMI.

That is quite the shocker. Who would ever believe that after 30 years it would come back? It's so sad to hear what you have had to give up: the fact that you could not hear your monologue performed is enough to make one cry.

Life is unspeakably cruel.

Not to mention being unable to play around in the kitchen, especially when all of us here know how much you enjoyed that.

Still...who knows where this might take you? I was listening to Ian Punnett, a host on Coast to Coast. Ian has had to give up his radio career because of tinnitus. His schedule went from every Sunday night to once a month and now he will completely leave being a radio announcer in July. This is all due to tinnitis. He is, however, going to pursue his Ph.D. in the fall.

The theater and communication are such difficult places to achieve. To have to say goodbye just when one is achieving success is the definition of bittersweet, I think. I'm so sorry, yellerpup.

I had to give myself a pep talk today and remind myself that I am not in such bad shape after all. I did not get my legs blown off in Boston, I don't have a traumatic brain injury, and I'm not undergoing surgery after surgery to try to save my life. My movements are restricted and I have good days and bad days, but I've resumed taking Cherokee language lessons through the Cherokee Nation and am constructing and researching a new play. I've not given up on theatre! "Broken Heart Land" will be produced by The Eagle Project in NYC next year. It's the saddest play you'll ever laugh your way through. I am working on finding remission from rheumatoid arthritis so I can attend every rehearsal and every performance. I'm really disappointed not to be out meeting new people and going to shows in the year leading up to my play. One of my fellow Eagle Project playwrights has a reading of her play at the UN on Tuesday and I would love, love, love to be there to cheer her on. After visiting with the truth and counting my blessings, I'm now feeling a bit guilty for overdramatizing. I have so much to be grateful for.
