What's for Dinner, Sat., Sept. 9, 2017

We're cooking up Chinese stir fry tonight: chicken with broccoli. It will also have carrots in it for color, and maybe some water chestnuts for crunchiness. The rice is going to be from a mix: sesame ginger rice. We don't usually do mixes, but the RG was busy all day since we had some workers in painting the house.

For a salad, cantalope with a little sweetened condensed milk and chopped mint leaves.

To drink, sparkling mineral water and maybe a Mike's lemonade for me. Sparkling mineral water is in short supply around here--don't know if it's because of Irma and Harvey or what the situation is. I barely got one bottle at the store today.

The Amish start them indoors in February and they are ready in July. Saturdays here is Amish market day. Great local produce.

Not really cooking, just prepping. Capicola and hard salami, sharp provolone cheese, pepperoncini, and the other salad items.

But, ya gotta be in SoCal...

I forgot to mention - I make an anchovy vinaigrette for this. (Basically a warning for those who don't like anchovies.)

baked with just S & P and dill weed, but my son made Hollandaise sauce to have with it. Roasted butternut squash cubes, a late cucumber with mint and yogurt, and baked potatoes. My Hollandaise-making son is a Twin Peaks fan, so dessert is cherry pie.
