At 1:30 a.m. Pacific time, my daughter called and said they have to evacuate their home due to an out of control fire in Sumner, Washington, which is not too far from Seattle or Tacoma. (We had already lost our power here in the Portland, OR area due to terrible winds. The sky is filled with smoke from Eastern Washington, and the smell is so strong you would think the fire is across the street.) Her youngest is sobbing and thinks the hills look like lava. My husband and I were talking earlier about what we would grab in case we needed to evacuate. We live close to the Columbia Gorge, which burned badly two years ago, so we are aware of how fast fires can move. We also live on a butte, with nothing but woods behind us; however, we never thought our daughter and her family would be in danger. No sleep tonight.

especially since I got some chili sauce when I went to the store last night. But no leftover steak here. I love chili sauce on eggs.

However, what I'm having is delicious: oatmeal with chopped nectarine, dates, pecans, and cherry vanilla yogurt on top. Swirl of agave.

Hot water with lemon.

Keeping fingers crossed for you, mommymarine2003.
