Any recommendations for a toaster oven?

Iíve decided to replace our bulky 4-slice toaster that only does one thing, with a toaster oven that does more things. There is, as it turns out, a bewildering array of options, including air frying. Also, prices range from around $40 to over $200 with higher prices often coming with tricky options Iím not sure Iíll use. Any advice out there?

1. Brevillle

Breville the Compact Smart Oven, Countertop Electric Toaster Oven BOV650XL

On Amazon for $189.95. I bought it 9 years ago and it is the best toaster oven I have ever owned. Not only does it look nice, it toasts, roasts, bakes, broils ... the works. And it does them all well. You can even get a 12" pizza pan that will fit in it.

The only downside, which is the same with them all, is that it's a bit tricky to clean. If they ever make a self-cleaning one it'll be my next one.

4. Bought the mini

The smaller size. Iíve been thinking of buying a toaster oven for a long time, but was finally motivated by watching my son fire up the big oven to make a single serving of tater tots.

6. Limit yourself to what you'll actually use.

A cheap Black & Decker worked for me for years, toasting bread and bagels and broiling fish and baking chicken breasts. It only does pizza by the slice, but that's how most people eat it.

I tend to live out of them in summer, they don't heat the kitchen up that much.

If you want to do things like roasts and bread, you'll have to go up in price fo more volume. I can recommend the Cuisinart convection toaster oven for that sort of thing. It's pricey but it's worth it, and it does great toast.

7. Cuisinart TOA-60 Convection Toaster Oven Airfryer, Silver

Keep in mind that the toaster oven gets hot and it needs space to "vent". Mine is on the counter and when I'm using it I just slide it out. I use it for everything. If I'm making casseroles or recipes that call for a 9x13 or the like, I just divide the recipe (when possible) into two 8x8 or 8x9 and freeze one of them for future use.
