Question about cat treats. Meow Mix Irresistible says for a small cat, 5-9 lb.,

give them no more than 8-14 a day. For a larger cat, 16-22 treats.

Friskies party mix says two treats per lb of the cat’s weight, not to exceed 10 per day.

Are the limits given just about limiting the calories the cat takes in, or something else?

or it might be that they know these things are rather low in nutrition and would spoil the cat's appetite for better food? I stay away from buying them, myself.
