that he needed medical treatment. Cat bites are nasty and painful and usually result in unpleasant infections. They probably gave the burglar antibiotics so the bite won't get infected but I hope it hurt, at least.

because she bit his hand. She was a real beast--very protective of me. She'd bite and attack everyone if they crossed her but me. She'd even go after my dad if he yelled at me. Everybody called her "The Old Dragon", but to me she was my best friend in the world. It was awesome. I got her when I was 6 and she loved me fiercely and unconditionally until I started to play the oboe in middle school band. Oh, how she hated the sound of that. Granted, the sound of beginning oboe playing is akin to listening to a ruptured duck so it must've really hurt her ears, lol. She'd start biting the bell of the instrument, so I ended up practicing in the car. I'm sure that the Charlevoix Middle School oboe still has tiny kitty teeth marks in it from Yum Yum. She's been gone for 45 years and I still miss her.

I'm still amazed that nobody sued us. I went to a one room school growing up, grades K-6; there were about 30 of us. My house was directly across the road from it. One day, I was looking out the window & saw that the German Shepard who lived on a farm up the road had gotten loose and was headed towards my little Yum Yum who was sitting on the front porch. I started to panic & went to my teacher, begging her to let me leave school & save my little cat from certain death. She agreed, so as I was getting ready to go, all the kids ran to the window because the dog was entering our yard. In a flash, my little Yum Yum fuzzed up, launched herself off of the porch at the GSD & somehow landed on his back facing the front with her front claws attacking his face. The dog started ki-yi-ying & bolted out of our yard with Yum Yum riding him like a bucking bronco. All the kids broke out cheering as Yum Yum, half a block away, finally jumped off the dog & pranced home, acting like the hot shit she knew she was. From that on, Yum Yum was a legend in my community, and that dog always deliberately gave our yard a wide berth. So yeah, I played the oboe in the car.

Man, she was one-in-a-bilion.
