It is what I expected and it's good quality. Not sure if it will work. My cat protested it, but she went out bravely and came back unharmed, so I'm hopeful.?1637628524

The innovative jacket comes from a San Diego, California-based company called CoyoteVest. Founded in 2015 by Paul and Pam Mott and Nicole Mellom, the family business was born from tragedy.
Paul Mott told Newsweek: "It started back in 2014 when one afternoon I had taken my three little dogs to the local park. As we were leaving, I'm trying to get all the dogs into the car when a coyote came out of nowhere and killed one of my small dogs. There was nothing I could do. I cried for days. I still feel really terrible and that is guilt I have to carry forever."
Following the shock of losing their dog Buffy, the family poured their heartache into creating something to prevent the tragedy from happening to anyone else and CoyoteVest was born.

(549 posts)If you live in an area that has coyotes keep you pet INDOORS or always supervised when outside. And besides that ridiculous thing won't stop coyotes from killing your pet in the most horrible way

(101,702 posts)I'm sorry to say.
And, if you have Great Horned Owls or Red-tailed Hawks, they definitely will send a talon to the throat.
The best thing you can do for the little ones is to only send them outside when you accompany them on a leash and be prepared to pick them up and tuck them under your arm if necessary, while your feet do the work of preventing approach. Better yet, yelling and a very loud whistle/ pepper spray if approached by one or more coyotes, while you hold the little pet. Most single coyotes will not approach humans unless they've been fed or otherwise lost fear.
If your neighbors are feeding coyotes or allowing them to reach outdoor dog dishes, call your state's Dept of Fish & Wildlife and report them. Let the local media know as well so that they can do a public warning-type story.

(15,952 posts)I know there are some, because I've seen (and heard) them on rare occasions. But they seem to prefer more rural and/or wooded areas to heavily populated suburban neighborhoods like ours. Still, just knowing they're out there somewhere reinforces my decision to keep my cat indoors 24/7.
This vest is a hoot, though! Makes those wee doggies and kitties look really badass.
