43. Ah, that clears it up
While you're here, perhaps you could define exactly what you mean by "gun troll"? Since I was part of a discussion of whose participants you said:
"Fucking gun trolls. DU would be much better off without them"
I just wanted to see that if I, as a supporter of same-sex marriage rights, womens reproductive rights, prosecuting Bush for war crimes, improvement of background check laws and having been a Democratic voter longer than you've been alive kind of person, avoid meeting your definition of "fucking gun troll". Clearing that up for all of us so that we see you only use the term "fucking gun troll" appropriately and in the spirit of liberal tolerance and comity with which it was no doubt intended when applied to your fellow liberal DUers, would do a great deal towards clearing your reputation of any scurrilous accusations that you're a vacuous, intolerant hack. This sort of clarity might also get Skinner off your back when you call people "assholes", if you could just explain how you meant it to be a considerate and constructive form of criticism. |

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Calling out the host (EM) of a safe haven group (GCRA) that this person (duckhunter) has long been blocked from (gun nuts not allowed), for something not even written by that host. Hosts aren't responsible for everything posted by other members. This arrogant gun nut needs to be reminded what website they are on, and they are not on ar15.com. Intentionally rude, hurtful, inappropriate = hide. I like the insult in the alert itself, I am curious who the alerter might be? Only the shadow knows....... |

and when I do unlike others I will admit to it. I think it is better to show how you can not back up your claims when challenged here. It tends to make your points even less effective as other posters see the baseless accusations you post here. Of course you can always go back to the back slapping group over in bansalot that you host and post all you want without being challenged.

77. How could we possibly get something like that hidden?
I mean, you've defined a "fucking gun troll" in a way that makes them people who are in clear violation of DU's terms of service and should be banned:
Someone who keeps on getting banned and re-registering just to talk about guns? Yep, that's a troll.
Calling these people out would be a public service and the site admins would surely be on your side. And the context of your other statements makes it clear that you identified more than one person of that type. Just think of what it would do to your sterling reputation to make an accusation like that and not follow through with evidence to support it. Besides, you owe it to the DU community to immediately provide proof of this gross misconduct to the admins so that they can take strong action against malicious, unprincipled types who are clueless as to what being a liberal is all about. I for one most sincerely hope that they do. |

If I am on a jury, I always vote on the content of the post not my opinion on the poster or subject. Remember star members to carefully use all of your jury blacklist slots. This helped me out greatly and also be very polite in your posts so they have nothing to alert on.

The new tactic seems to be to wait until long drawn arguments are well under way, then mass multiple alert on multiple posts by an RKBAer who has been very active in said discussion, in the hopes that one or two are hidden by an anti-gun biased jury.
But rest easy, I have been assured by our colleagues on the other side of the issue, that there is no culture war. ![]() |

It is absurd to think a serious discussion site should allow one group to dump its HATEFUL bile slop bucket on another with Impunity.
Not going to happen, esp. since elbowing ones way to the front of GD'S OP line with a shopping list of nastiness is an EXPLICIT tactic of the controller/banners. Victimhood? 17. I have some problems with your characterization of the problem...
The question you raise about guns is not germane. Guns are as available as they have been since the Civil Rights laws put paid to Jim (large, raucous black bird) gun laws in the sourth, and the concealed carry movement. The gun used in Charleston was designed in c1911. Crime rates are down.
I'm perplexed by your "threatened" reference. This is not a question of threat, but of abusive discussion and other crap found on troll sites, as stated above. I think what you want is for ONE (1) side to cool down, and for the other to get free reign to pursue an avowed agenda of shaming, taking advantage of a tragedy, and conducting most especially a culture war based on some of the worst hate speech I've seen since the last eruption here. If the "other side" showed some modicum of sympathy or empathy toward the victims of this racist terrorism, then I could let even a few gratuitous remarks slide. But it's a tide of sewage in service of an explicit tactic. I would prefer to find out if this racist killer has a network, if he follows certain current public figures, if he has cohorts (you heard of the incident in Richmond the day after?). But we hear instead the same doctrines, plugged-in to the Adam Lanza model, and first in line. Don't you think this incident is a hellnof a lot bigger than a gun? Thanks for your civil tone in this exchange. |

29. All I'm saying is that US citizens have never been better strapped than they are now. .....
We are legally allowed in most states to own magazines over 30 rounds, in some states automatic rifles, "supressors" - silencers, never has there been more lenient laws. I've lived in Arizona so open carry does not bother me a bit. But here in Texas a conceal carry permit need only something like 8 hours of classes.
What happened last Tuesday won't challenge my rights to own firearms a scintilla. Sandy Hook didn't and it was a lot more victims, white and young children and it didn't change anything and that "event" didn't even have political bend except the right to own arms. We who appreciate our second amendment rights should at least have the grace to allow them to mourn their dead. Its really not at all about your or my right to own firearms. Sorry if we can't agree. |

25. To answer the question in your subject line, see below
Item #1 here.
The entire comment section at that link is a good example of how far certain people will go to avoid answering straight questions on the topic. As for how exactly you are threatened, simply ask anyone on the gun control side which regulations or laws, if any, they think are excessive and should be repealed. The answer will be "none". The answer has always been "none", even after new laws are passed. The lack of answers on the links' question on magazine limits is a good example. They won't say "this is as low as we ever need to go". It is always "we want more restrictions". It's exactly the same ratchet abortion opponents use, and exactly as ethical. |

On Sat Jun 6, 2015, 08:57 PM an alert was sent on the following post:
Ahh, the hypocrisy drips from your words. eom. http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=6792499 REASON FOR ALERT This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. ALERTER'S COMMENTS Rude personal attack, intended to be hurtful, and unable to back it up either (see down-thread). We shouldn't stand for baseless accusations of hypocrisy. If you're going to call someone a hypocrite, be ready to back it up. You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sat Jun 6, 2015, 09:14 PM, and the Jury voted 0-7 to LEAVE IT. Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE Explanation: No explanation given Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE Explanation: This has the be the same asshole who unsuccessfully alerted on the same DUer yesterday with almost the same comments "Rude personal attack, intended to be hurtful, not discussing the issue at hand. 1 more hide and they're back in timeout yet again, so please do hide". Take a powder shithead, you're abusing you alerting privileges. Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE Explanation: No explanation given Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE Explanation: No explanation given Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE Explanation: Being right or wrong about hypocrisy on DU is not a violation of the TOS, nor is it a personal attack or inappropriately rude. *sigh* Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE Explanation: This is a proportional response to obvious shit-stirring. EM jumped into the thread with a person attack, trolling for a reason to alert, I'd bet. GG shouldn't take the bait, but I'm inclined to let them argue it out in this mutual slap-fight. Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE Explanation: No explanation given Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future. I happen to know who the alerter is but will not name him |

44. I think admin should see that.
This was a blatant attempt, to manipulate the system toward silencing a specific individual poster, for something other than the content of the post.
I think admin should see that. |

47. It is sleazy
and he does not have the fortitude to say it was him. Kind of like it would embarrass him as it should. Of course I asked him several times in the open and once by IM if it were him or to deny it and he would not answer that simple question. I take my hides and I truly believe some are legitimate but some are just so surprising, like the one where I apologized. There is a person that I think alerts on almost anything I post in a thread he is part of, hoping to get me a vacation or stoned. That just causes me to be even more polite and it just drives him nuts I am still around. I think he thought he got me when he stalked me with several hides and my account went to review. Guess what I am still here!

38. I'll bet that was the same...er..."fellow DU'er" that got a hide on me...
...for my (obviously) humorously-intended little poke at Hoyt and his infamous "can of beans" line.
Some people's pretensions of being "progressive" when their attitudes and actions are anything but are genuinely annoying, in the way that only pungent hypocrisy can be. |

41. I am quite sure I know who alerts on my posts
Sometimes you can tell in the alert body.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS Calling out the host (EM) of a safe haven group (GCRA) that this person (duckhunter) has long been blocked from (gun nuts not allowed), for something not even written by that host. Hosts aren't responsible for everything posted by other members. This arrogant gun nut needs to be reminded what website they are on, and they are not on ar15.com. Intentionally rude, hurtful, inappropriate = hide. I like the personal insult directed at me the alerter included, lol |

This is what I got sent by the forum host when I was blocked for a mistaken post over there, which I deleted and reposted here where I intended it:
You know why you were blocked, of course. You got what you wanted. nt

48. That was a first for me
a person blocked for a self deleted post. If that is not abusing the host powers, I do not know what is. How is that an SOP violation?
I am so glad he can post in this group and it is his favorite group as he can be challenged and show how he really is. |

with his baseless accusations trying to stir the pot and and hoping to alert and get a hide
55. Someone who keeps on getting banned and re-registering just to talk about guns? Yep, that's a troll. http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1172&pid=169424 Of course he made the accusation and now will not respond after being challenged, surprise. We can challenge in this group and not worry about being blocked unlike the other group that is so scared of debate. |

37. I think I know the thread (and poster) you're referring to.
Clearly, "fuck you" and several slanderous, insulting (and hilariously illogical) assertions about gun owners here at DU are hunky-dory. This shit gets excused because "emotions are running high" over the latest big story.
But I get hidden and called "cowardly" for a little good-natured poke at Hoyt, who I'm sure had no problem with my post. This is why I tend to take long vacations from this formerly-wonderful site and do vastly more postin gon DI. |

49. Kinda normal from the 2A progressives aren't "real" democrats folks.
They normally get all worked up and let their emotions, prejudice, and seething hate get the best of them.

He/she sees a connection to Bernie Sanders' positions on 2A. I don't know, but the heat between the Sanders and Hillary camps is intensifying.

76. If it's any comfort
One person just had a post hidden for calling names at gun owners. And posts get hidden for all sorts of reasons, on all sorts of issues, when people take offense at a particular word, or maybe nothing at all. Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. (Can I say that?)
